I have just recently joined BSJA, for the first time in my life. I have received all the stuff through but cant work out a) how you tell what time competitions are starting and b) what classes they are running and in what order.
Does everyone have to phone up the secretary each time? Or am I missing something in the pack I have been sent?

Yes you have to contact the show centres or look on the website to find out what classes are running and what time they start.

Not sure what info you have been sent thru - the show directory?

All shows are detailed on the BSJA website, and individual shows / show centres usually have a copy of their own schedules available online too

ETS: If you let us know where you are thinking of competing, i'm sure people on here could point you in the right direction for schedules

OK, so its not me then

It seems only one centre here, puts the schedule online. It makes it difficult to plan where you are going to go. I spent last week phoning a secretary who never answered the phone or returned my message, so ended up not going. And have now discovered the show I was hoping to go to this w/e isnt running a BN or Disco.
Is it more difficult for show centres to plan their schedules for BSJA? I'm used to eventing where you can plan months ahead where you are going to go and what you are going to do.

I think there are just so many more BSJA shows than there are BE events. The BSJA website does usually have a full breakdown of each schedule in advance though.

Go to Shows > Show Areas

Then click on the area you are competing in and a pop-up window should appear with a breakdown of all the shows and their schedules in you area for the coming month or so

Pencoed senior on Sunday they are doing a 90cm Open, followed by 2nd round Amateur qualifier, then Newcomers. On the Saturday it says Mixed Show?!!! Any ideas? I'm too embarassed to phone the woman back

Mixed show usually implies Seniors and Juniors at the same show...

Thanks Rambo. I've tried phoning again but it's now on an answer machine. Perhaps they'll have a BN and Disco in the Mixed Show

Generaly most shows start between nine and ten a.m, midweek ones may be evenings check, usually start with smallest class i.e. british novice and work up wards timing there after depend on entries though some centres will have an approximate timetable. most of the big centres run on regular days you will soon not hardly need to look when its a local one, there maybe an hour of clear round first. Does that help?

Don't worry my first BSJA I rang the secretary about 5 times with loads of questions - poor lady. I did not have a clue! When I met her at her tent I was very apologetic and told her how wonderful she was putting up with me!
