Today I went to Gracelands Equesterian centre for the 1.05m open and 1.10m blue chip power qualifier.

Only entered the 1.05m to start with just incase, as we have never gone straight in at a 1.05m before (in fact, we have never jumped double clear in a 1.05m before

). It was fairly up to height, and i was a tad nervous- but i needn't have been

Tara went in and flew round, went clear and into the lead

That didnt last long though, and i ended up coming 4th, but it was a big class and i didnt want to win any more money, and i didn't even try to go for it so was pleasantly suprised

Onto the blue chip- i have never jumped a 1.10m track before so nervous is an understatement! The warm up was hectic so i couldn't jump her much.
I went in and she rapped number 1 (which stayed up), flew number two with a water tray under it, came round the corner and popped the up to height planks nicely, and then took a total flier at number 4, didn't think she would make it but she didn't even touch it!

anyway got round to number 7, a red double. They had moved the first jump forward since the 1.05, which i had strided out, but i didn't stride it out again and so totally cocked up the striding coming into it and had the first part down- she jumped out nicely and finished the course on just 4 faults!

I am so pleased with her, i never thought we would get round a 1.10m class with just 4 faults! And she wasn't struggling with the height either, so we can do a few more newcomers now

Thanks for reading, sorry for the self indulgentness

Hi my name is Tillie im in junior bsja.. just started 1.10 there really scary arn't they!! Well done!! i hate the warm ups they are so busy and you just cant warm them up properly!!
well done anyway!! xx

Its always a bit nerve wracking going up a level on any horse I think, fear of the unknown!

I never thought Id be brave enough to do a 1.20 but am jumping them fine now. Once you've done a couple, you'll think they're small :P

I'm at the same stage as you by the sounds of it! I've just started jumping newcomers, first time I did it was very scary and we had two down

but I'm getting used to the height now, people are going on about doing foxhunter and I'm like aaaah, well maybe next year if everything goes to plan!

i remember when we first started jumping at shows too (we regularly got eliminated at 2' and minimus! lol)
