does anyone know if you can reregister a horse under a different name for bsja? I've just bought a horse and didnt find out until yesterday that he has jumped out of british novice and discovery but i wanted to do those to get used to him as i've gone from a 13.1 to a 16.1. Can i re register him under a different name? Or will that not work as the passport needs to be sent in as well doesnt it?
:(:(
thanks

You should definently not be registering your horse under a different name, this breaks the rules of the BSJA. It was a few years ago now I joined but i'm sure I had to send my horses passport off with the application so they will check anyway.

If he is out of those classes you either have to enter these classes as an H/C Entry and will not be permitted to win prices/places money ect. Or you can see if the BSJA will wipe the horses previous points off his history and then he starts again from scratch. You can do this with BE but I'm not 100% sure you can do it at BSJA.

Agree with the above - you can't downgrade a horse/drop its winnings. You could jump the classes you want to do hors concours (HC) if you want to get used to the horse, or do the amateur classes. Have fun!

The British Novice and Discovery classes often run as 'opens' at the same time - so you can enter as an 'open' rider (rather than a Discovery rider), still get placed and still win money.

If it were possible to downgrade a horse or wipe it's winnings, we'd all be buying Grade A's and starting them again and clearing the board!!!

I thought it was horse/rider combination, I thought if this circumstance happened the new rider could enter,I'll ask my friend 2moz she knows more than me

Only other way would be to go HC ? but you couldn't have any winnings, but if it was just a couple of times to get used to the horse

No, you cant register it under a different name or else everyone would do that I bet ;)

There's plenty of open classes around so I'm sure you'll find some to do. Otherwise you could go unaffiliated for a while first?

No, the money stays with the horse whereever it goes and whoever the rider is.

However in Trailblazer SJ the clear rounds and qualifying etc are for the horse/rider combination. So if you qualify for 2nd rounds or for the finals but then sell the horse, the new rider will NOT be able to go to those 2nd rounds or finals.

However in BS you can sell the qualification with the horse - that is why you often see in adverts something like "qualified for Scope Festival and sold with the ride" - meaning the new rider can take the horse to Scope.
