Please can someone explain how the classes run for British Novice and Discovery and BS jumping classes as a whole?

I’ve looked at the bsja website till the cows come home and I cant figure out much, find it really hard to navigate and cant really find any answers to my questions. So hoping you nice people will be able to shed a bit of light.

We joined BS not long ago and thought id have us a bash at kbis BN qualifiers. Had double clears in both BN and Discovery so were on our way to try & get 3 more doubles clears to qualify for 2nd rounds. We currently have 44 points to our name.

Question time:
British Novice - if we qualify for 2nd rounds does that mean I have to ride in the ‘open’ section until the 2nd rounds or carry on in section A?
Discovery - Same as above with the Discovery class im not actually sure what qualifying for, as I cant seem to find it on BS website?
Newcomers – Can I enter this class if I want to have a pop over the bigger fences every now again? Is there any restriction on this?
Where on the BS website is a table showing how many points a horse gets. Ive no idea? Im sorry im so crap and yes I should have asked all this before becoming a BS member but I didn’t think it would be quite so complicated. Thanks for you help.

Here you go: http://www.britishshowjumping.co.uk...g Horse League Points Table - 2017 REV 13.pdf

So assuming you're in Seniors:
British Novice is for horses that have won 125 points and less,
Discovery: up to 225 points
Newcomers: up to 375 points
Fox: up to 700 points

It's only about points so the fact you've qualified for the second round doesn't mean that you're out of the class. Once your horse has too many points you can jump the open section if you want to stay at that height.
You can enter any class you are under the points limits for, whatever you feel is right, and you can chop and change as much as you like so Newcomers today British Novice tomorrow is fine. There's a league table for those jumping 1.10m and under (bronze league) which jumping a 1.20m (Fox) track would push you out of, but league tables are something of a niche sport so you may just want to ignore for now.

British Novice and Discovery qualify for the National Championships.
Newcomers, Foxhunter and the 1.30ms qualify for Horse of the Year Show.

Once your rule book/handbook arrives all will become clear, in the mean time it's online here: http://www.britishshowjumping.co.uk/_files/MH 18 20172.pdf

And a *poster guide to the smaller (85cm to 1.10m) classes*, cut off points and dates and bronze league is here: http://www.britishshowjumping.co.uk/_files/A4 Bronze League Class Guide V14.pdf
