okay i have got a 14.2hh 6 year old that i originally bought as an allrounder but it is becoming more and more obvious that he is a natural born jumper, he is clearing 1m30 with ease! (i don't jump him these height often) and although he does a nice dressage test (got 64% in his last prelim 12 test) he just loves to jump! i have taken him to a few local show jumping competitions and he just wins them all and even though he is a cob his time against the clock beats pony club connemara's all the time! so i have decided i am going to become a member of BSJA, I have been on their website but it's all a bit confusing for me i would only like to compete in the novice class (i believe is 90cm's) as he is still only young and i don't want to push him as he could have a big career ahead of him! so i would like to know do i need to register myself and my horse? how much does registration cost per year? how do i register? do i need to register as a junior or a novice (im 15) any help would be amazing!
by the way didn't want to post on the competition riders forum because felt like a bit of an idiot not knowing how to sign up! :L
thanks x

We're registered as seniors & unfortunately don't know too much about junior section. I do know that both rider & horse need to be registered to compete. It would be as well for you to telephone the BS office & they will tell you all you need to know. They are very helpful. :)

Hiyya you need to register yourself as a junior and your pony as a pony. Your parent/ guardian will also have to register as a non-jumping member.

He will start off as a grade JD and once you've won £100 notional he becomes a JC. As a JD you can jump any open classes and up to Foxhunter which is 1.10 in the first round.

The british novice for juniors is 80cm and the discovery 90cm newcomers are 1m with various opens as well. Once he becomes a JC you can't compete in the BN.

Hope this helps. :)
