We were due to take all 3 horses to Crofton for the amatuer show Friday and Sunday last week but the air suspension on the lorry was having a moment and we could only fit 2 on YO's lorry so we decided to take Hansi both days and Tica on Friday and Varleen on Sunday.

Friday - OH jumped Hansi in the 95cm and had a stop at the double but jumped it OK the second time. He went in the 1m and jumped a fab double clear and came 6th! Tica had 1 down in the 1.05 jump off but felt fantastic!

Sunday - Hansi had the first fence down in the 1m with OH but jumped well. On to Varleen next for the 1.10, now Crofton is quite spooky with lots to look at. She cantered in with eyes on stalks, came round to the first fence and didn't see it until the last stride she spun round completely taking me by surprise as she has never stopped before and I fell off! Now I have never fallen off in the ring and at the first fence as well

OH and YO legged me up and sent me back in HC and she jumped round lovely. Bl00dy horses

I got no sympathy off anyone even though I managed to dislocate a rib! Trainer p*ssed herself laughing when she heard and even my vet said it wouldn't do me any harm. Grrr!

So.... back to royal leisure on Sunday to jump Newcomers with the girls and Hansi will do the 1m and the 1.05. And I will try to stay on!

Thanks for reading and sharing my shame

No shame in that!! I fell off in the warm-up at a Dressage Show last week!!! First time in 15yrs - I was soo embarrassed as Horse was doing Tigger impression and upsetting everyone else, that I went home, tail between my legs!

My most recent shameful moment was getting eliminated after the first fence in a Br Novice as I hadn't gone through the start timers. Before that a few years ago at a certain venue I spent a few shows sitting on the floor directly in front of the water tray with said horse careering as far away as possible! At least she jumped round lovely after your fall

Thanks Guys! She's only a baby and bless her, she just stood there looking down at me as if to say 'what are you doing, I was only trying to avoid the fence!'

LOL Dixie - I did that at Poltimore last winter

Mind you my first two BSJA shows I got ditched (first was a very unexpected stop and the second was due to the ground being absolutely cr@p and we skidded into fence three despite having studs in)

hey - I fell off my 16.2 doing cross pole jumping clear round to get my confidence back after a bad fall and long break. half the others were on lead rein ponies. great oaf tripped over the bloody jump !!

Crofton is really spooky though a lovely venue - Gadget really likes it there but proved last week he does not like Merrist Wood !!

horses are very strange animals so dont worry he went schooling last night at royal Leisure and jumped a 1.40m track with ease - you would think he would prefer Merrist though !!!

I was down at Crofton Manor on Sunday, the number of horses that spooked up the top by the first fence and so didn't see it was unreal, so at least you weren't the only one with that problem

Well done for getting back on & having another go!

If it makes you feel any better, I got dumped off Catembi twice at The College in the warm-up, nowhere near a jump & the seond time involving someone's husband having to pursue him across the lorry park
blush.gif
, once at Lordsbridge also nowhere near a jump cos he saw his own shadow on the wall

, & again at Lordsbridge standing still after our round
blush.gif
cos he decided that the slidey doors being slid warranted a spook & spin.

Obviously they were pretty scarey considering that he only went there twice a month for lessons...

You've all made me feel a lot better!

Stacey, what happened at Merrist Wood? My guys normally jump OK there but are really spooky at RL. The distances at MW do seem to be quite long through.

xspiralX, were you competing at Crofton? There seemed to be a lot of falls and one horse actually fell over in the 1m!

No, I was there as a groom for my friend who had a couple of horses there

There did seem to be quite a few problems, I thought the 1m was very very up to height, and loads of horses seemed to have issues with the jumps at the far end, like they just didn't see them in time or something.
