I posted last week that i was going to be brave and attempt BSJA with my little 15hh Cob cross... who has been consistently double clear at 3ft unaffiliated this season...

well we did it... and other than a brief momentary lapse in my confidence levels he went really really well...

I know i have a few dodgy moments on board, im not going to make excuses about them... i need some help before we could tackle that lot on a regular basis... but im really happy i had a go...
... undecided on registering him or not... partly due to the extra cost and partly due to me havign a wedding to plan and get ready for between now and July... so Showjumping wont be the priority for the the next 8/9 months!! Maybe once im married i will bite the bullet and register then ! x

Constructive critique and comments welcome! x

I think that you should be very pleased, a great first attempt. Your horse made some very neat jumps, legs together over many of the jumps.

I would just say two things- your right stirrup looked longer than your left and your horse is lacking inside bend sometimes.

Well done though, youve got a nice horse too!

Your horsey looks like a very neat and brave little jumper!

Aww well done!! he looks like a lovely horse - looks like the twin of one that has just moved onto our yard though called atlas! Atlas is about 15hh built like him and used to jump BSJA (same colouring too) but hes 20 now! Hes LuistianoX though

Well done! That was an excellent 1st attempt. The quality of video was not great on my PC but I would say he found the 80cm very easy and almost went too fast - he seemed to be zooming round corners. In the 90cm his lack of size & stride caught you out in that related distance. You need to be riding him in a more consistent rhythm he seems to decelerate as he approaches the fence. So work on getting a really good rhythm over the lower courses he finds really easy.

Great attempt though. That looked an up to height BN and a long track as well. I think you can join BSJA at the moment on a 6 month package horse & rider for £99 - then you could have a break to concentrate on your wedding.

Thanks all..

You might be right about the Stirrups will check for next time!
Yeah he had been struggling with the dodgy ground in the practice ring but suprised me by being quite head strong in the 80cm.... made it feel easy!

The BN did feel alot less flowing... i think they may be partly down to me being a bit nervous of the wider spreads... i hadnt really registered the fact that we dont jump many square spreads unafilliated.. they tend to have a X pole as the front part... so thats something i need to get over my fear of then i can learn to see and stride and keep the momentum up a bit... thens for the CC will try and work on it...

Thanks for thedetails of the 6months BSJA aswell... will look into that maybe! Might just use the time and money before the wedding to get some decent lessons again to help us make the step up...and help me to help him to jump in a less UP then DOWN maner! hehe x
xx

well done fab first attempt!!
i would deffo join if you have the oppurtunity, i have a 15hh welsh cob and i am now in my second year bsja'ing him and i love it, never looked back!! i saw on your video you struggled to make the distances in some lines/doubles (put and extra stride in) i used tostruggle with making the distances but after lots of practise i have learnt exactly how i have to ride him to make them and we could make them all day long now!!
so yes deffo join if u can i would recommend it, its taken me from jumping 75 and 8f unaffiliated to 1.10m affiliated!
good luck if you do
