BSJA help again please

Ok, so if you have a 148 pony who you newly register for BSJA you start in the British Novice classes. How do you move up to Discovery? Is it based on how much you win, or how many double clears you do in BN?

If you buy a pony that is already doing Foxhunter, does it mean there is no further to go with it?

There is a pony advertised that is in Discovery but 'only just' - presumably about to move up to Members Cup. What does it need to do to move up?

Sorry for these questions but I have found the BSJA website very unhelpful and I just want an 'idiots guide'.

What keeps a pony in a class is its winnings. Once it has won over £100 it can no longer compete in BN classes and the money limit increases per height of the class so the pony has just under the winnings for discovery.

However the money has no relevance to when you want to move up so you could have £20 winnings and still compete in Fox/Newcomers

After the pony was out of Discovery it could jump Newcomers (1m) and Fox (1.10m) and then Members (1.15m) and loads of other random opens/qualfiers.

It doesnt need to do anything - it HAS to move up when it has won a certain amount of money !! but there is nothing stopping you taking it into a fox straight away !!

after fox you have the open classes !!

If a pony is in disc it will mean it has won to much money (£100 for horses ) to be in BN anymore !!

So is the 'order' as it were: BN, Discovery, Newcomers, Foxhunter, Member's Cup?
 
Lol as in scope to go further-can jump high?

Or Scope is a national festival of show jumping held in August and there are the finals for the BN and I think Discovery there this year?

Also there are other qualifiers such as progressive and adventurer (1m and 1.10) always good to qualify for these

Blue chip is the equivilant of scope but for the Winter qualifiers and they have random names too!

My 13 yr old daughter wants to do BSJA jumping and as it's not something I ever did I'm trying to get my head round what is required.

Next we have to find the right pony - I guess one that has done BN already would be a good idea so that daughter has something to contineu with, rather than one in Fox already?

Not sure what level I would put her as such - but she is capable of jumping 1.20m on her pony at home (we have sold the pony subject to vet inspection later this week).

She has jumped 95cm courses on him locally and Trailblazers but not got any double clears unfortunaltey.

She's a brave and bold rider. She hunts 3 times a month and jumps everything. She likes XC too and again is bold.

As for dressage - she will need more schooling nevermind the pony!
 
Lol I'd go for a pony who's done a bit of BSJA like BN/Discovery/Newcommers but has notional winnings around the £100 mark (slightly less would be best)! Then it has some experiance but your daughter can start off in the smaller classes.

As Stacey said 4 double clears are needed in BN/D/N/F then you go to the regionals then the finals (hard to get to in N and F as it is at HOYS and very competitive!)

ok sorry it sounded like this was going to be her first ever pony !!
