Have been working really hard on our sj with some fab help for the last year, except for a brief pause with a broken ankle in the spring, & have thought that the natural progression would be to test our hard won knowledge in the ring. I have always jumped unaf, but quite fancy the idea of going to a lovely show centre & having a bash. Sorry if I sound very dim, but some of these intro classes start at 70cm, ideal as she's very spooky, & though we've been jumping 90cm in the lessons, it will be very different out. Sorry if I'm rambling, but my main point is, she's 14hh & I'm a senior, so can I enter on a pony? Could I use a day ticket, or do we have to join? Would the distances be too long? as my trainer builds them at aff. pony distance.

No you couldnt enter as a pony as you have to be under 16.

Might be worth doing trailblazers instead as these are normally held at affiliated centres and you wouldnt have the added expensive of affiliating too soon. Course range from 75cm to 105cm

Actually I thought you could register a pony in seniors, but they can only jump up to Foxhunter?

I could of course be completely wrong though but could be worth phoning the BSJA if no-one on here can help.

Sorry i meant u cant jump the pony classes as you have to be a junior.
You can register the pony and jump in senior classes but the courses are built onhorse strides not pony strides

yes you can ride a pony in seniors but it must compete against the other horses !!!! and remember the stridings will be different and built for a horse not a pony !!

Must admit I thought I could do seniors on a pony, was just more concerned about the distances & all that. I knew the proper pony classes were for under 16's, good idea to call the BSJA though, or Trailblazers sounds interesting.
