can a JA pony jump BN/ discovery if the rider is new to BSJA or do they have to jump the tracks according to the ponies grading?

only if jumping HC eg not for placings or prize money so they are best jumping opens as ponies cant be downgraded

No a JA pony cannot compete in BN or Discovery. This would make a nonsense of grading. However a child new to BSJA can jump a JA in classes such as Junior Members' Cup I believe. I'm sure someone more up to date with current rules & classes will advise. It's a pity that the information isn't available on the BSJA website, but you could just e-mail them with any queries.

They can only jump HC, but they can jump in the Members cup classes as thats what they were designed for.
