BSJA Points, are they forever?

Anyone know this, my horse is Grade C and has about £176 winnings, can't remember the points but this was not with me and she has not been registered or jumping affiliated since 2003.

I'm unlikely to do BSJA but can she jump unafilliated now, some of the classes do say that the horse, depending on the class must not have won a certain amount of money so do her winnings/points stay with her forever? If I did affiliate her for someone else to jump would the points the become relevent again? Any help much appreciated as she is a cracking jumper and I feel she is a bit wasted at the moment.
 
BSJA winnings are for life. You can still jump unaffiliated subject to the local rules of the particular show you are competing in though

Is the £176 winnings 'actual' or 'notional' ?

Yes....the 'Actual' figure is pretty irrelevant for grading purposes. It's the 'Notional' figure that is important

I think the actional and notional used to be the same, so your actual and notional will be £380, but probably best to check with the BSJA.

Feel free to shoot me down if I'm wrong, not cleared this with BSJA rules or anything, but my instructor was telling me that a horse can lose up to £50 actual for each calendar year they are not registered.

i.e. won money in 2005, not registered for any of 2006, register in 2007 and some winnings can be removed (think you have to request it though).

Anyone else heard this?
 
Nah, once they have won money it stays on their card, trust me, I had to find out the hard way when registering my mare, she was 15 and hadn't jumped since a 5 yr old in Ireland, but still kept all her money which cancelled me out of novice classes, even though she was really a total novice after a 10year gap of being a broodmare!

I understand why they do it, but I think they should allow some sway dependant on the situation.
 
I think the losing £50 per month is a Riding Club rule. It doesn't affect the BSJA winnings for any other purpose but the Riding Club introduced this rule to downgrade some horses. I'm sure I read this in my Riding club mag somewhere but could be wrong.
 
Dixie is right that its under BRC rules that you lose £50 per year in winnings for each year the horse doesn't compete at the discipline its affiliated to.
 
A lot of Unaff shows state that horse can't have won £x amount of money in the last 2 years, so after a while you'll be able to do a few things with your horse
