Today I took Queenie showjumping, as I managed to ride her yesterday and the roads had cleared

Arrived in nice time for the discovery. She was really flying in the warm up but was very strong (even in a pelham!)!

Anyway I went in the ring and her eyes were on stalks, silly horse

She popped round sweetly though, much better than normal and went clear without touching anything

But then I found out that everyone else in the class had also gone clear, bar a few

Learnt the course and told myself not to "go for it" and go for a double clear. Was about 5th to go in the jump off so got to watch the first one go, who didn't take any risky turns. So I got on her and warmed her back up, popped a few fences (took an absolute flier at the spread!) and went in. Jumped the first at the perfect angle to turn tightly into the second, and after that I got a bit carried away and went for it

Luckily it paid off! She is a hell of a lot better at jump offs than I thought she would be, and she didn't tap a single fence (which is a miricle for us!)

Watched the rest of the class and everyone seemed pretty fast (I didn't know my time cos forgot to check when I came out!). I was gobsmacked when I found out I had won, by 3 seconds!!!!

So chuffed, the first showjumping class she has ever won (affiliated anyway)

Decided not to do the newcomers this time as there was another class inbetween so we wouldn't of got back for the rugby, plus I wanted to leave it on a good note

I am now £2 in discovery, with one more double clear to get... Ho hum!

Thanks

Yeah, it has been months since I have won any BSJA classes!
Just looked at her record, I have done more double clears and got more money/placings on her card in the last 2 months than her old owner/rider did in the 4 years they owned her

And it looks like she had been registered every year too!

Can I just ask - how do you get to see your horse's record? I am no longer a BSJA member (havent been since 2004) but would really like to see Ellie's record - do I still have to pay £5?

Whoopee - well done and how satisfying to have done so well so quickly compared to her previous owner. You're definitely doing something right

Thanks everybody

Schumie, I think if you still know your registration number/password you can log in and see her record. I can see all my old ponies records, but then again I am still a member so I am not sure if the same applies to you?

Was nice to feel some sort of "click" today- it was as if she knew exactly what I wanted her to do in the jump off and was turning before I even asked!

Am definitely starting to trust her more now too- which shows, as I thought a few weeks ago that I would never be able to ride a proper jump off with her!

You would have to pay £10. It's £5 for a member to get a record of a horse that they don't own. You could ask a BSJA member to get it for you for £5 though
