I am going to attend a few Bsps classes / shows this year to see if I like it enought to join. I have a 14yr old Throughbred who I am hoping to do some in hand with and some ridden horse classes.i did 2 showing classes last year to break up the day from Jumping.I was wondering if it was worth joing?

I joined them because I had a horse I was trying to qualify for their Championships, but cant honestly say they seemed to offer much other than allowing you to compete in their affiliated shows tbh. If this is what you are thinking of then it might be worth joining, but maybe give them a call and see if they do temporary membership so you can try it out before commiting?

Its only really worth joining if you want to compete at the championships or do RI or HOYS qualifiers. To do classes at normal shows, i'm pretty sure you don't have to be a member - but if you qual for the champs, the you have to become a member within a week or 2.

I think it is quite expensive and you don't get much in the way of benefits. We used to do it to do RIHS and HOYS qualifiers and to do their champs when we used to do WHP. They don't really do in hand, if you have a horse as opposed to a pony there wouldn't be much point in joining.

BSPS are the better of the Ponies UK BSPS and NPS for the simple reason there are lots of shows locally, the standard is generally high and they have the olympia hoys RIHS qualifiers. However if your not wanting to do these then no point in joining just go along and enjoy the shows.
