Lottie is still a very good girl, she's just a little lame.

She's had a few days off in the run up to Christmas. In fact I'd only ridden her 3 times at walk with a little trot in the saddle that hasn't yet been checked, but everyone (some very experienced people) who looked at it thought it looked a pretty good fit.

Lunged her today fine on L rein breaking into canter a bit though and falling in, which isn't like her, onto right rein and looked unsound in front. Others agreed.

Took her in no heat in legs or feet at all so I did a little bit of ET with her (I've done level 1 and 2). She had a big reaction to anything abound her shoulders on both sides, left more than right. On the left she had a very obvious pain reaction to a very very gentle non-invasive soft tissue technique. I think she may have pulled something in the field (v wet and slippery) but obviously could be compensating for something else and the saddle won't go near her until it's checked, although I have lunged her after the last time I rode her and she was fine. Very good in fact.

Plan is to stay in tomorrow, walk in hand and try a little more ET if she'll let me (I won't push it) and get the vet if she is no better monday. I need to have her second jabs anyway so I'll get them to check her over and do jabs at the same time. I have a friend who is a vet Physio (I'm a Physio) and I was planning on getting her out anyway.

Feel very bad for my baby pony. I was looking forward to starting to do more with her over my holiday (I am off until the 6th) but never mind. Fingers crossed it's nothing too bad.

Oh b****r how disappointing atlantis but sounds like you are on top of things re: the other professionals to help diagnose. I ll hope that its a little stiffness due to a hooley in the field and that it will resolve quickly.

Speaking from my own experience (and not my horse) I know my back is sore at the moment and is worse due to having to drag my feet in and out of muddy gates snd walkways. Our mud seems to have super suction at the moment. Could just be a simple mud related strain?

Thanks both. Could be a simple strain and I hope it is, but noticed a splint on her off fore today. it's not very big or swollen but has a little heat in it. Wasn't there last night. Think it might be that and maybe some compensating with her other side. She is still reactive to the Equine Touch around her near side shoulder but that was much better tonight. As in the moves I did yesterday were a little better this morning, so added a couple more this morning, which appeared sore, but they were better again tonight. She's interested in life and hungry and completely sound in walk. Haven't trotted her up today as everywhere on the yard and the school was frozen. Gonna get the vet tomorrow but might leave it til Tuesday due to a very cold day again tomorrow so might be little point if she can't be trotted up.

Mine was about 4/10ths lame for nearly a month when she popped her splint (due to hard ground over the summer, we think) and cost me a fortune in vet investigations before it appeared and she went sound again. It's now nearly disappeared though (can just feel but not see it) so fingers crossed that Lottie's goes before the summer shows.

Hope she comes sound for you quickly :).

And processing tonight. She stopped munching to process some of the moves lol. She's become very very food oriented since having her teeth done and piled weight on. Now fed no real hard feed just a handful of Hifi molasses free and some formula for feet.

Atlantis she is so pretty ...if its a splint causing bother I hope it stays a little one.

I know me too. It's really not very big so I've decided to just leave it alone. Although was thinking tonight should maybe bandage as she paws with both front feet quite a bit when eating, but only her bucket feed which takes her all of 30 secs. I'm more worried about the shoulder reaction to the ET tbh. She actually tried to kick me the first time I did one particular move. It is much better tonight though. The beauty of ET is how unlikely you are to do any harm as its do gentle.

Of course she could have been kicked in the field too. Little ponies (not mine obviously) and unshod but they're little sods at times and have been in quite a bit due to the mud, but out again recently over Christmas. Lottie actually stays well away from them both most of the time.

We'll see what the vet says. Any ideas about whether to leave it until Wednesday for the vet when it's a bit warmer as the school is frozen over and the yard is an ice rink so wouldn't be able to trot up for the vet. Cold forecast tomorrow and Tuesday. I'm going to see what the vet practice say in the morning but it seems pointless getting them out to not see her move.

Great minds think alike. Booked for Wednesday. She's standing in and we're doing bits of ET and I've cold hosed when the tap wasn't frozen.

She's bright as a button but obviously not trotted up today.

oh, sorry Atlantis. She is beautiful. really hope it is something easily sorted. Sorry about your not being able to ride on your holiday - that always happens to me too. This holiday its because I am lame rather than my horse!
