Can anyone guide me on the sizing of these rugs please, are they generous in the neck ?

I need a rug with the front fastenings covered and was thinking I could use a no fill Bucas over the top of winter weight rug with exposed fasteners.

Are there any other brands with the front clips covered ?

Thank you HHo knowledge bank.

I have a bucas cooler rug and it is roomy enough in the neck but like a mini skirt on my draft type! Not sure what the turnouts are like though but it might be worth checking the depth if you have a chunky type :)

Well, if they are mini skirts it is a non starter. Maybe I could get a rug repair to sew a velcro attached flap over the fastenings on the existing rugs.

Is it because the rug fastenings are catching on things? I'm sure I've seen a cover to go over fastenings somewhere will see if I can find a link.

I have found the page but it seems to be just a livery yard page. I am probably being stupid, my IT skills are not good.

It is a livery yard but if you scroll down the page you should find an option for shop and they are on there. They only seem to sell them in packs of three but is a simple design that a rug repairer could easily copy. Or you could run up yourself if you are handy with the sewing machine!

You are a star TGM, exactly what I need and a pack of 3 is great because there are two horses needing them.

I feed big bale netted in a feeder and one of the horses shoved the other one into the bale and the 'T' clip caught the net. Bit of a freak incident but had I not seen it happen the horse probably would have hurt itself struggling to get free.

The Weatherbeeta Comfitec Premier Free may suit? I have a couple of them now and am delighted with them. Uber waterproof, fit several different body types and the memory foam relief pads either side of the withers seem to work really well too. All in all a superb rug. Worth a look perhaps.

Mark Todd do a buckle guard/chest protector thing that attaches to existing rugs might that be worth a look?
I'm not sure how it works or if suitable but do remember seeing it somewhere.

I bought one of their fly rugs for my 13.2hh welsh cob X. I bought the usual size but found it very restrictive on her, I would probably go up a size if I bought another one but to be honest I'm not sure they are made for mini tanks like my girl!

I have had three Bucas rugs for my chunky, flat backed, wide chested IDxConnie. The two turnout rugs (Smartex and Bucas Select) have fitted him like a dream, never rubbed or slipped, and don't come up like mini skirts despite his ample frame. I don't have the big neck variety. I have found them true to size, similar to Mark Todd sizing (and you can attach Horseware and PE liners - winner!) and the shaped shoulder darts are a brilliant idea.

On the other hand, the fly rug I bought was sold on quite quickly. It was tiny and not made for a horse with a bit of a summer tummy (the belly flap wouldn't do up!), plus it rubbed his shoulders and slipped.
