I need to buy a lightweight turnout. I was going to buy an Amigo Lite (the 1200 denier one) but I am now wondering if a Bucas SunShower is a better choice. Any recommendations?

Also, what are Bucas rugs like size wise? Horse has a MW Amigo which is a 6ft 9 but he is 6ft 6 in some brands (he has a big chest).

The Amigo is a good rug. I tried a Bucas turnout on my horse a few years ago and I couldnt fasten it up across his chest and he is not particularly wide!

Well I've got the Bucas Sun Shower and it is a decent rug. Have used it in some heavy downpours and although there was a bit of leakage/seapage at the neck, it has always remained watertight over the back.

My previous LW was a Rhino - two of them and neither remained waterproof for long - maybe I was just unlucky? My other Rhino/Rambo rugs have been fantastic - just not the LW.

As for fit - my TBx takes a 6ft in Rhino/Rambo it fits perfectly. I bought the same size in Bucas and it does fit but seems a bit bigger around the shoulder - maybe thats why the rain can get in at the neck?

Only thing I don't like is the clip fastenings at the front - they seem really stiff and awkward to fasten and unfasten. Overall a nice rug though.

I have the Bucas sun/shower rugs on both of mine and I think they're pretty good. They're very lightweight, so perfect for weather which can go from chilly/wet to hot/sunny and back again all the time. If the Amigo lightweight is the same weight as the Rambo lightweight, then it would be heavier than the Bucas.

I would agree with the above that the fastening at the front is a bit stiff and awkward, but they are a good fit on my two.

My 17.1 hanovarian is between a 6ft6 and a 6ft 9 and the 6ft 9 was the one I went for. I would say perhaps if in doubt, go for the larger size, they're not over-generous.

Oh yes, and I didn't like the leg straps much. They were flimsy and not long enough, and I prefer the fillet string style now anyway as it's much less fiddly. So I unclipped them and turned one leg strap into a fillet strap, and it's worked perfectly, they don't move.

I have had a few Bucas sun shower rugs over the past few years and I find them super. Yes the fronts can be a bit tight to undo. Ellie is normally a 6'9" but I buy a 7' one as she is a big girl across her chest

If they did a 7'3" I would buy that. SO definitely go for the next size up.

I bought mine off ebay from a seller called eagerbeaver.

i would say amigo
i love mine, does the job, and is a good price
a girl at the yard has a bucas, and imo it looks flimsy compared to the amigos

Had both, prefer the bucas. My girlie is quite broad chested but it fits her fine. I really like that its seems so much more light weight and breathable than other summer turnouts
