Hey guys,

I just bought a 15hh argentine polo mare who came with a saddle which we have been using. Unfortunately, we just discovered that her saddle slides from side to side when we are hitting the ball!

Also, we discovered that she sometimes does a small kick (buck) or so. So, we took a video and discovered that she bucked her right hind leg when we leaned to the right to hit the ball (and the saddle shifted to the right!)

Was just wondering if the shifting of the saddle can cause horses to buck because they're uncomfortable and how to correct this! Because the saddle cam with her, i assumed it fit. As one who does not know how to tell if the saddle fits correctly, I don't know how to correct it! I bought a breast plate and standing martingale online and am now waiting for it to arrive to see if it helps the problem.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do and if it's really the saddle! Someone said it might be looks like it "sits too high on her" but can someone tell me how to correct it if it sits too high? I know I should go to the saddlers but I don't know how to tell visually if the saddle fits (sorry if this sounds stupid) and so I just wanna know if someone can help me!

THANKS alot in advance!

xx

^^ what Amy May said.

Back pain is probably one of the most common causes of bucking. Well done for working this out from the video.

Definitely time for a saddler to visit. They should see you ride in the saddles you try to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen.
