Hi all, as some of you know I have recently backed and now bringing on a youngster.

He is going through a bucking stage at the moment. Little ones when I am on him (although I think the best is yet to come), massive handstand ones when he is being free schooled (with and without saddle), attempts to buck if you ask him to move over in his stable. I have waved the whip near his backside couple of times recently when I ask him to move over and he does so without much resistance.

Any suggestions and experiences?

hi
I suppose the 1st thing to do is eliminate any sources of pain - i.e teeth check and back check - the fact he does it in the stable when you ask him to move over to me suggests pain. The saddle fitting, is it pinching anywhere?
failing that, he's naughty!!

agree,...ignore the sillyness in the stable and get an elbow right in there, pushing him over, ignoring the resistance, so he knows u aint messing...as for riding, id say it was a youngster thing, we've got one doing exactly the same atm, and she's just being plain naughty and awkward, if i were you, id be riding that buck out of it, so it knows your not messing about, but you could also try lateral work, turning tight circles etc to prevent it bucking...
