Well as of yesterday my little terror bucks!
When asking to canter he didn't go off my leg after me politely asking twice, so he got a smack, and I got a buck! :) haha, managed to sit them all okay even though they where un expected. He did it 3 times and I don't particularly want it to become a regular occurence for obvious reasons. I'm just glad I can be okay about it now, a few months a go I probably would of got off whimpering, and not have ridden for ages making the problem worse. Confidence must be making a slight comeback!
Any advice on how to deal with this please? I have a lesson tonight so will obviously ask my instructor.

Thanks!

As the owner of a horse who sometimes bucks ........... I have found that the causes are:

1. Being unsure.
2. Not thinking forward enough which I guess is the same as being unsure.
3. He sometimes kicks out when I ask for canter on the right rein because he isn't very well balanced. We have been doing more transitions and circles etc. on the right rein which is helping.

Guess you have had all the normal back and saddle checks done?

He doesn't buck when he goes in to canter normally, he's bucking at the smack he gets I think..

I'm getting the saddle fitter out soon for a check up, and luckily she is a back lady too so they'll both be checked at the same time.

Thank you, my friend who was watching said hers used to buck to balance herself. But it really does seem he's bucking at the smack itself.
