Trophy League national dressage team champions :D And Bronze overall :)

Very quick report as I really ought to revise. Very strange going away to an away show without a pony- it was all well organised by our team captain 'Jarrive' and the BUCS guys so ran smoothly. Managed to get 1/2 the team to their exam first thing Wednesday, before our 1st round dressage in the afternoon. I drew first and was doing an individual test rather than drill ride. Drew a pretty bay horse, however in the approx. 4 mins we get to warm up I couldn't get it forwards :o Went in and did what felt like the worst test of my life as I just couldn't get it to move on well so was pleased that was over. The rest of the team did their drill ride later and it was seriously smart :D Found out the results later and unfortunately I was 2nd on my horse so out (5points behind the leader, who won the final by a huge margin, so not all bad) but the drill ride had gone really well so they were all through to the final round dressage :D

First thing Thursday they were on, 2 team members doing well on a sharp chestnut that didn't walk at all, and another on a chunkier bay. They managed an individual 2nd, 3rd, and 7th :D Which took the national title for us :D
Then a couple of them had an exam, and came back for the SJ!
Was relived to find the course was smaller than our training session, as it was 95cm, so still 15cm taller than I've done on anything of my own and 5cm bigger than regionals! I drew a big bay who over the 5 practise fences they show us it got 3 down  The rest of the team all did good jobs and I was very last to go of the day. I got a few down, but survived! Fortuneately of the 4 of us on my horse one had more poles down than me and I got better style marks than another, but the girl that won on it aced it and left us all with huge difference scores! Still very happy with 2/4 on my horse for jumping when it wasn't a straight forwards horse and I don't really jump

This left us 3rd overall as a team

Can't wait till try outs next year now :D I'd better get back on a team :o

Fascinating - I love reading the BUCS stuff, doesn't sound like it has changed much since I was doing it about a hundred years ago :D

Well done on some good results, looks like huge fun - hope the social side was even better :)

Likewise, TableDancer!! i think it was BURCA in my day and the finals were at Marchington?!!

Great result - well done!!

By the sounds of it the format has tiny changes back and forth every few years but the overall format stays the same- it's quite exciting to know that some of the now famous riders did it :o

Sadly due to the exam situation the social side was non-existant- though everyone we chatted to was nice and we had a good time as a team :) Next year hopefully none of us will have exams during it/the week after!

Ditto, I got to do 2 sets of champs though BURCA and the welsh ones so had twice the social life!

Must have been quite wierd doing exams inbetween the riding bits. Well done.

Well done! :D

Hope the exams went well despite the competing - this just goes to prove however that you should have come to Liverpool - we finished two weeks ago! :p

I was there in the championship final!! Was seriously impressed with your team you all rode really nicely and deserved to do well, especially in the middle of exams!! :)

Might do a report on my week at some point...it was fairly successful :D
