I wanted a hi-viz jacket for hacking instead of just a normal tabard as all on my hacking is lanes, roads and residential areas.

I liked the idea of the Polite range but not only are their jackets really expensive but i didnt want a heavy winter type coat and dont like their styling on the back (that big check triangle thing).

So I had a look on ebay and bought myself one of these - CLICK HERE - BRILLIANT!!

The traffics response has been excellent and i think they work just as well if not better than the polite ones. .

They are short and elasticated at the waist so they dont interfere with the saddle and are lightweight so you can wear them over an existing coat or just a tank top in summer.

Had to order another one for a girl on the yard so thought i'd post on here and share the love! :D

p.s. if you do want a longer heavier type coat just search 'hi viz police jacket' on ebay and they have several different styles

Saw the real mounted police out the other day and they had exercise sheets similar to the polite ones but ride on and a piece of laminated card saying police horses in training on their backs  none of these fancy jackets just normal hiviz.

oh yeah i dont doubt that the real police just wear whatever but the drivers around Walsall dont seem to know that, lol! :D:D It really does slow them up so by the time they realise you arent real police they are already at a safe speed :)
Anything that slows a car by even 1 mph is worth it in my book. Keep safe everyone :D

These look great, if i had a horse to hack (boo hooo :( ) i would be buying one straight away. Will remember them for when the time comes that i need one again as i hate riding on roads full of inconsiderate idiots.

Do you? I'd never noticed :p

I don't like this police imitation stuff. For some reason it makes me feel uncomfortable. Fortunately, I'm not bothered whether traffic slows down, provided it doesn't actually hit us, hence the pony does wear "normal" hi vis...

I quite liked the idea, but wasn't impressed at them claiming it was Police approved when it wasn't  They've had to remove that from their adverts now.

HAHA! Nice work. Better than threatening to hit you with a post, I guess :p

I don't think anyone's going to mistake J or Fergs for a police horse either

I did wonder about that - it seemed somewhat unlikely... So they've had to remove it? Fascinating...

I got a lightweight hi-viz nice shaped jacket with zip out arms from Primark for £15. It was a couple of years ago now though, not sure if they still have them.
It was in their Backswing range which they still sell, sporty wear.

I got a fluorescent/reflective running t-shirt, lightweight jacket and gloves mega cheap in an outdoor/adventure sports sale last year :)

I have awesome hi vis gloves from the Co-op at 99p a pair :D And I have orange ones to match the pony's gear :D

I really want a fluo hoody but can't find one  I saw some a few years back and haven't seen them since I went to buy one and they'd gone

Lol at the thought of ponies hiding behind trees.

I remember being told by an instructor who was gobsmacked watching another one, proceed to have saddle clubbers in an arena playing British Bulldog. Dangerous (but fun) game on foot, but add horses? Eeeep.

Lethal, but incredibly good fun I'd imagine! We used to play British bulldog at primary school all the time, though I'm fairly sure it got banned eventually (along with Red Rover and countless other classics). I think one too many kids ran into the wall/ tore their knees open/ gave themselves concussion :p
Blimey, primary school games were violent weren't they :D
