After a saddle fitting which saw my black and brown saddles switch horses (bit annoying but at least I didn’t need new!)
I’d like a matching bridle, they can’t switch bridles as one has a bigger head and the brown bridle will be too big, it’s also got a grackle which I don’t need.

So I’ve been looking at these two options.

Or

Neither come with reins, look kind of similar. I was just looking around £100
The Shires is hard to find in Havana and full so is more £125

Which would be better or any other suggestions to look at that are similar?
I want a mono head really and a padded raised cavsesson I quite like the crank but that’s not essential.

I think my collegiate monocrowns are fine. Not as nice as Henry James but do the job.

If you’re willing to spend £125 - take a look at Sabre. Some of their complete bridles are around £170 and will be far superior in craftsmanship - with the bonus of being English leather, too.
Will do thank you. I didn’t think of sabre and they don’t come up in searches.

No sadly the black one is HJ but I can’t afford another in brown just now.

I trusted our old RI and loved sharing her horse. So her tack remained my favourite. Her bridle and reins were Sabre, so I bought some Sabre all leather reins and fitted them onto the bridle of the horse I share now.

I’ve had collegiate bridles before, nice enough for the price. I’ve also seen the shires velociti ones when other people have had them and they also seem decent bridles!

My current one is EcoRider, still going strong after 5 years of regular use, I have no complaints and wasn’t expensive. I love the HJ ones but can’t justify the expense of replacing my current perfectly good one 😅

I have the Collegiate one you linked and it was pretty soft straight away which I liked and cleans up well. It's a nice brown too, not as dark as other havana brown bridles which I find can be almost black.

Another bridle I've seen with really nice leather is Bridleway Lavello.

https://www.randrcountry.com/saddle...pfv82s8EAjwjXHVkUUTun9Nq0t-y2tasaAnyAEALw_wcB it's on offer and a crank as well if you prefer that!

I have a Shires one at the moment, really soft and supple.

I also really like the EcoRider ones, again it was really supple.

This is the Shires one:

So perhaps I need therapy for my bridle problem, but this makes me very tense. Assuming you are in the UK? The home of the most stunning bridle work ever produced, usually made with first grade English leather and you are considering an offshore mass produced product?

My version of porn is looking at quality second hand bridles on eBay or marketplace. Is there not a lovely second hand one you can find?

This afternoon I needed a hunter bridle for a show next weekend. Pulled out my fav that was made in Devon before my children were born (they are in their 20s now), wiped it over with leather conditioner and it is just stunning. It had been used for a solid 10 years before the horse retired and eventually passed. It is the most beautiful item of saddlery.

Please consider a second hand one………………….

I have a Collegiate (in black) that has lasted me for 14 years and is still in great nick. It’s not fancy but the leather is supple and lasts well and it cleans up nicely.
