Build up of static electricity in arena with synthetic surface

Hi There
I am trying to find out and also warn people of the possibility of static electric shocks passing between horse and handler while working on synthetic foam and carpet surfaces.
I have a completely synthetic surface and when dry and the handler touches the horse quite a shock passes between them. Has anyone else experienced this? It is a big problem for me and dangerous ... Any comments welcome

Never had this problem in our outdoor arena but do get really bad shock when he has had a bath and I take a clean sheet off him and / or groom him!
