hi - has anyone out there built their own horsebox?? we've bought a chassis - a 53' plate merc and are now ready to start 'stick' building an aluminium frame so any advice or tips gratefully received - thank you
The most important thing is to firstly get the chassis/cab completely serviced before you build the container. Thoroughly check all the brakes lines, fuel line, wheel bearings, replace clutch if it is not likely to last another 50,000 miles as it is a lot easier to do it without the container on it.
Also make sure that you get the weight distribution on the axels correct so that you will not go over weight on them.
When you make the container build it with a tilt cab and build it so that you can replace the floor.
