building a school

i would like to build one at our yard and was wondering if there are cheaper ways of doing it or is there any sort of grant you can get for business purposes ?how did you do your school and did it cost a fortune ?
our yard has been running since the 60s

and thought it would be a good idea to get a school sorted !! anybody have any ideas

depends mostly on your subsoil type, how free draining it is. if the answer is "very" then you might be able to get away with one of the "roll out and ride" type of arenas.
otherwise, it's a full drainage layer, membranes, sand/surface, i'm afraid, and it costs a lot tbh.

You can do it much cheaper if you source the materials and labour yourself. A couple of years I had one built (50x20) for about £8000. I arranged a man with a digger etc to do all the work and bought the stone, membrane and sand all myself direct. It was a bit of hassle but it was worth it in the end.

There are a couple of websites that give you a guideline of what to do only I can't remember what they are called at the moment! I think one may be Jackson Arenas but would have to check.

drainage is good,it is also rite next to our river although on a higher level,it was already set out fencing wise to be a school we just never got round to doing the rest and now its a storage place !!!

have you got planningpermission, Be careful with what surfcae you can have next to a river,
run off from chemicals etc.
UNlikely ot get a grant, butyo iwl be paying bon domestic rates onit.
