I am starting a yard build & I'm intending a large block built/rendered stable yard. However, time & financial constraints means that I'm not building this for a while.
For the next couple of years I will be using an open fronted, pent roof pole barn. This is going to be divided up into 4 stables using a sort if 'internal' stable system (does that makes sense?) . It has a good, well drained concrete floor & I've used a similar set up before which has worked really well.

My problem is the barn is in a prominently sited by our house & particularly the fronts will be very visible to everyone driving up the drive.
My OH is not horsey & is a little obsessive about things looking 'nice' so he's twitchy about having something that looks scruffy & cobbled together. Gah!
Obviously my suggestion that he buys me some beautiful curved top monarch internal fronts has caused him to laugh like a drain & I'm loathe to spend a fortune on something that is going to be replaced.
So, my challenge to you is to show me DIY 'fancy' stables (& yard areas)! If you've built something that looks expensive/posh/pleasing to a non horsey fusspot please, please, please share your genius with me!
Thank you

I'm not sure about internal stables, all the nice ones seem very expensive. Can you use planting/screening to obscure the barn?

Why not look for some secondhand monarch-type ones on ebay to tide you over for the time being? They generally come up very well after a pressure washing and you can also get some of their oil from Monarch to get a look that's as close to new as possible.

Thank you, a good idea to look for 2nd hand. I'm guessing they will resell on again.
[toodles off to look at eBay]

Agree second hand is certainly an option - you can also cable tie hardboard onto 5 bar gates neatly and paint it nice colours - gates are simple, cheap (ish) and easy to sell on
