Has anyone done this, and if so, do you have a design that you could share/advice to give???? I seem to remember that a good while ago there was a discussion about this on the forum, but can't find it .....

The preference would be for stocks that it was easy to dismantle/folded back against a wall, as we are planning to use the yearling barn for them and don't want to lose that space for the yearlings in the winter if we put a semi-permanent structure in it. Many thanks!

I built my own but they don't fold back. They are against the wall in a barn which has stables in it - but if the stables weren't there it could still be used for loose housing (and spare hay could be stored in the stocks!) The space taken up is less than a quarter of one yearling's necessary space allowance!

The fella at Little Danny built his own off pics of my stocks, he may build some for you. I would reccomend bolting to floor though, several years ago I watched one of my own mares run off with the stocks!!

Have a word with Sally at Brackenspa I think she said that her husband and friend made the ones she has. The friend is a metal work and I am sure that he could make what you need to fold up when not in use.

We have a fairly solid gate that we hinge onto two small catches and the plan is to have a bolt into the floor. The mare walks in and is stood up to a half door, which then opens to allow her out. It means foals can be in the same stable which keeps them calm.
The scanner stays outside the stable and the vet has some protection because of the gate, or if really difficult he can actually stand outside the stable but reach in to examine.
We take off the gate after use returning the stable to normal use.
We did intend to have a bar to stabilise the whole thing but really we haven't needed it, they know once they are in the partition there is no escape!
