Sooo looks like i may have some answers been suffering from horrid back pain aggrivated by riding particularly cantering or anything that causes me to jolt.
Been having physio and between gp and the physio think its a bulging disk in my neck and the pain is deferred in my right shoulder blade. Been told to have a month off riding.
So about my horse! He's very fit and we have been having weekly lessons and we where out competiting til this happened. (About 6 weeks ago) been ticking him over but now there will be no riding strictly.
My trainer has been riding him 1 x per week and i was doing light hacking and a strict walking and trotting session 1 x per week. I want to keep him going so need some ideas. Its taken loads of work and tome to get him where he os right now so want to keep him going whilst i am on "box rest" i am fine to do inhand work as well as lunging him. Thinking 1 x weekly ridden by trainer and 2 x weekly lunge sessions.
Or am i just being crazy and should i just give him time off too??
Has anyone else suffered from this or similar ? If so what did you do with your horse? Interested to hear!

How old is the horse? If he's younger I'd probably just give him time off, it won't take that long to get him back to fitness and his mind will have a bit of a break after learning so much!

He's 12.
He's had the odd week off but never longer than 10 days in a row.

It won’t be the end of the world if you have to give him time off.
Not in my neck but I have four bulging discs in my back, pressing on the nerves. Diagnosed through MRI. I continued to ride though, but I didn’t have any ‘new’ pain, just my usual so I cracked on. Every so often it gets me and I have to have a few days out of the saddle because riding itself jars my back.
Hope you feel better soon.
