My brother is looking to get his bulldog bitch spayed (she is 6 now!) and is also open to hearing if anything can be done re her nose roll and breathing. I was hoping to get some personal recommendations for Bulldog friendly vets as I am struggling to find anything online!

Many thanks

I'd go to one of the vet collages if you have one close.

They will have the best monitoring equipment available to keep track of her under the anaesthetic and the surgeons there should be very experienced in the BUAS syndrome issues, there are actually several options they can do to ease her breathing issues surgically..but bulldogs make poor anaesthetic candidates.they need small et tubes for their size, can be incredibly difficult to intubate, have the occasional interesting reaction to some premeds and and are prone to post op issues with breathing. At least in the collages they will have very close monitoring during the op and the students will be with her as she wakes and watching her recovery.I

Personally as a GP vet I would avoiding doing surgery on a 6year old bulldog with a serious nose roll and breathing difficulties and would refer to a specialist

Thanks Aru - I have been after my brother for years to have a look into this and completely get where you are coming from re seeing a specialist for a 6yr old bitch - one look at their faces and you know nothing will be simple!!
