Bum high

Hi im going to see a horse tomoorrow and its 5 in may so stilll growing, and is slightly bum high, i was wondering if this would be a huge problem if so how?

well, i asked my friend today, and she said that its quite likely that the horse is having a growth spurt. As her youngster goes, bum, withers, bum, withers. But if she stays bum high then she will probably be very "on the forehand" hope that helps x x x x

At that age i wouldnt be worried at all - Rock was incredibly bum high between the age of 3 and 5 and only now has he evened out (hes 6 now) the only problem it made was it does tend to mean schooling them they're very on the forehand as they're built very downwards but again this is a problem that can be solved firstly when the horse evens out and secondly through schooling

For me that horse is downhill and I do not think it will improve. That horse will take a lot of training and effort to get off its forehand just because of its confirmation. It bum is higher than its wither and though it may change slightly with muscle it is definately croup high.

Hi, Just checking but he seems to be standing with his quarters very uphill..... but it looks like the hardstanding that is sloping....... check out the lower courses of bricks and the bottom of the door..

Try standing him with his near side to the camera and he may look very different!!!

If it helps, I bought a TB mare when she was rising 5, her bum was about 1 inch higher than her withers, but within 6 months she had evened up and 6 months later still she was slightly higher in the wither as she should be....
I think your horse will grow as s/he looks a little immature generally.
