I noticed on another post that a few horses have bum juice. My horse also has this and I wonder what could cause it? Any ideas? Thanks

(I like the term bum juice, its exactly what it is and very descriptive.)

There are many causes. Have a chat with your vet, it can be from worms but also from a hyper active digestion, lush grass, haylage being too wet or too warm etc etc

OK great thanks. He has this all the time. His last worm count was negative. I know he is intolerant of a few things, but he does not have access to them, other than grass, but that isnt growing at this time of year.

WHAT is bum juice?!

there can be a lot of things that cause it feed grass or even a bit under the weather if nothing as changed from noramal get him poo sampled come spring coz now you will just get a negative count and a elisa blood sample for the other worms that the poo sample dont detect. and try him on a pre/pro biotic!

wat is bum juice?? is it where they squirt juice before and after having a poo?

Exactly that, or when their poo's have a high water content and dribbles down them after a poo

My horse is worse on good grass... I use Biotal Equine Gold (£23.50 big pot lasts 6-8 weeks) and have found that my mare is LOADS better... At the moment she is pretty dry with the odd bit of bum juice... Seems I have coined a phrase here, my vet howled with laughter when I first described it to him nearly 4 years ago...
