i recently discovered a small bump on my mares pastern, it looks like a knock, where an over reach might be, there is no heat and she is sound, today i checked the leg to see if there was improvement and it was much smaller but i noticed another one on the side of the pastern, again no heat and sound, she did go crazy in the field yest so is poss another knock but am paronoid bout ring bone, does this always cause lameness? she is for sale and has a vetting in a few days, help!

It seems strange for ring bone to magically " appear" and then get smaller a day later with no lameness...

I would say she has just bumped it. If you havent had lamness before or sensitivity in that area I doubt ringbone.

My old mare had bumps either side of her pastern as does my new boy. I was totally paranoid as my old mare had ringbone and these bumps got bigger and bigger. When I was viewing horses as unfortunately she was PTS it became an obsession but lots of the horses I viewed had bumps that I could feel so I just took them as being normal. My boy was vetted with these small bumps and nothing at all was mentioned by my vet. That was 3 years ago and they have touch wood never changed.
