Friend has an ID x who keeps getting odd bumps around his hindquarters, neck, shoulder etc. Does anyone have any idea what it is? It doesn't seem to be hurting him when you touch them either. Would a supplement like Bumpy Skin from Global Herbs help?

One of the riding horses in our local equestrian centre has these and he is not working well at the moment, it was suggested by the school that he had a food intolerance or a virus but he is still working in lessons, so either they aren't concerned or can't afford for him to be out of work.

Pickle had something simular at the weekend where he had small bumps all over him, they just dissapered after 2 days, we think he was stung or rolled in stinging nettles and had a bad reaction

sounds like a feed intolerance, reaction to something like nettles or bugs. Has the feed changed? I would pop on a fly rug. My horse is allergic to all manufactured horse feeds and bugs (as well as hay and some grasses!) PM me for more management advice if you think it will help.

H had this - they where insect bites, where had laid in the field - cleared up after a few days - just applied fly deterant to them - he would still work and was not bothered at all by them

could be protein lumps caused by feed that the horse is receiving a few on my yard had them there nothing ti worry about and normally sort themselfs out

My boy had these all round his belly. He had a biopsy and blood test and turns out he's allergic to wheat, rye and grass pollen. I've changed his feed and bedding and they do seem to have improved. Removing grass pollen is obvioulsy a little trickier!

April gets these occasionally and its a reaction to the flies and clegs etc.

We have added garlic to her feed and now use a fly cream instead of a spray as it lasts longer.

We have also found that Arnica gel reduces the bumps very quickly.

My lad got loads of them last year... they looked quite nasty but they didnt seem to bother him (you can see them on his shoulder and neck, though not very clear)

I got him a fly rug and they soon cleared up.

Now the warmer weather is here again he has got a few lumps on his belly, so i think its fly/insect bites

Hi, my m,are used to get loads of skin related lumps and bumps. I firstly changed her bedding to shavings and they got a little better but the thing that has made the most difference has been changhing her diet to Simple System, fingers crossed nearly 3 years down the line and nothing since the change!
They have a website so it might be worth a look.
