At 1am phone rang asking Sandro to go to a Quarter horse stud to pick up a colicing broodmare with foal at foot and take them to a clinic a good 2 hours away.All went well and the mare has been operated on and is doing well-double twisted gut
.Oh arrived back this morning at 6 completely shattered but content for the mare. Just after lunch the same stud phoned asking him to go back pick up a yearling filly and take her to the same clinic.He was told that she had 'difficultystaying on her feet', nothing more. He called me a while back to say the the filly had been loaded onto his truck using a mechanical arm attached to a forklift truck
.She is paralysed-she does not have 'difficulty staying on her feet', she cant get onto her bloody feet!!!!!!!!!!!!!Oh agreed to take her as he knew that if he didnt someone else would and at least he could take care of her as best as he could.He arrived at the clinic to be turned away-they had been told by owner that the filly 'had difficulty blah blah' and didnt have a sling nor the personel needed to turn her every 2 hours.They sedated her on the truck and made oh turn round and take her away.He is sooo angry and upset for the little filly and Im angry and upset for both of them

The whole story has since been told-said filly has STRANGLES, said filly has had a tracheotomy, the tube was/is too FCKING small and said filly has been starved of oxygen for the last 36 hours.She is brain damaged , her back end is paralysed, she is in shock AND SHES BEING HAULED AROUND THE BLOODY COUNTRYSIDE FOR A NO HOPE CURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Oh has been on the phone asking the owner to have her put down on arrival and while still on the truck to save her further distress-owner has told him to take her to the clinic where I worked which is on route back to the stud-THEY ARE GOING TO TRY AND CURE HER

Why do these people exist? Why didnt someone notice that she was in distress earlier? Why wasnt she put down in her own box hours ago? Why did owner hide the fact that she has strangles? Who is going to disinfect ohs truck ( he spent hours cleaning it yesterday

The saga isnt over yet-he called 2 secs ago to say that she was becoming agitated and was fighting to get up.Thank goodness hes got the tele camera but it wont do much good

What do I do with oh when he gets home covered in lovely strangles lurgy? Do I ban him from the yard for a week, burn his clothes, what do I do? Whats the best way to clean the truck? Help?? Ive never had to cope with this scenario before.
Poor poor filly. I feel quite sick.
