My friend recently brought a horse, passed vetting all checks done teeth back etc.. she has been ridden loosely in a bungee to get her working in a frame .. with it on my friend can do anything with her hack out no problems on her own or in the arena however without the bungee she acts like she hasn't been ridden in months .. spooks, just a handful in general what effect does the loose bungee have on horses to make them act so different with and without one ?

Agree with Elf thing is with that kind of gadget it puts the horse in a false frame but as soon as you take it off your back to square one.

I would be inclined to go right back and re school the horse without anything, working in a frame comes from working correctly behind, so maybe some lunging and long reining to start then start getting on for short periods and just concentrate on getting the horse to go forward.

This. Find a good rehab trainer who will look at the behavioural side of it as part and parcel, for a horse physical issues become emotional/behavioural and vice versa. I have an amazing rehab trainer I work with in Warwickshire if that location works for you.
