I'm going to the sponsored ride this Sunday at Burghley

The thing is, I'm going by myself and I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what to expect so I can be as prepared as I can be!

From what I can gather, there are no jumps - its more of a 'leisure ride'/hack around the xc course and tracks.

Also, I should imagine it is well signposted - esp the xc course but the slot is 30 minutes and I don't know any other people in my group so chances are i'm going around by myself...I don't want to get lost!

If anyone could share their previous experiences, I'd be most grateful!

I took my boy a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. The course is well signed and nicely easy to follow, we had a nice pootle round it. Everyone was nice and friendly. There were lots of pictures taken too, I have a nice one in front of Burghley house! Go have fun, wish I was going! X

I went about 5 years ago with my gelding, it was a very busy ride! The time slots weren't stuck to and we started well before our alloted start time. Because it was so busy we were always behind or in front of other people and at times struggled to get into a gap to up the pace without risk of upsetting someone elses horse. It was however a very nice ride (if a bit short!) and at parts we could hear the commentary from the SJ!

We struggled to find gaps to have a canter in but did manage a few. It certainly isn't a ride for an inexperienced horse with it being so busy. There is no jumping but the route does go on part of the XC course which is all signed walk only. We did manage a naughty canter down champions avenue though ;)
