I have somehow been allowed to take two days holiday this year (lucky me

) so am off to Burghley for the full four days

Can anyone recommend anywhere reasonably nice to stay that will not be fully booked by now (am aware that lots of places already are)? I don't mind staying a little further out, just looking for somewhere nice and comfortable to stay

Thanks in advance!

In a tent on site.

Let me find out if George's owners are going as they are always very generous with caravan/awning space

It's only caravans allowed at Burghley (no tents or horseboxes

Sorry off topic but it's my oldest friends wedding that weekend....how dare she and she is horsey....I really want to go. Some people hey!!!

Lol Maizy. Speaking of which; I was supposed to be doing my Sky dive for charity that weekend, but I have moved it forward to the 13th July instead so I could go!

I always stay at orton hall which is about 15 minutes away from Burghley and is great to get into burghley as it avoids the busiest routes in. Just google it and it comes up. Its pretty good value too and they let you take your dogs too

I can recommend where NOT to stay

- OH organised the accommodation one year without supervision - never again, chose a dodgy place about 20 feet away from the A1 - when we arrived we realised it was a strange sort of place out of a Hammer Horror movie - freaky china dolls all over the place and "erotic" photos of the hostess lining the walls

... god I was glad to get out of there.
The next year I was in charge and we stayed in a Travelodge which was GREAT.

You could stay at the travel lodge in Morcott or maybe somewhere in Uppingham - the Falcon maybe?

The george in Stamford is meant to be nice but probally booked. Not sure really though.

I dont live too far away and my friend lives pretty close which is convenient. I could have a word and see if shes up for putting everyone up for few nights? haha
