as per title really.

Which is preferred by folk and why?

Arden grange seems to have more meat in it. My border terrier is on burns and doing very well but i am aware its highest ingrdients is rice.

So, not entirely sure if i should change.......

If your willing to spend that much Fish4Dogs is highly recommended on here. (burns is expensive)

When I cant feed raw (aka no freezer :( )I do skinners 4 days a week (only £20 a 15kg bag) and top up with raw bits and pieces I can store for. What you could do is feed a bit of raw as well and have 4 days kibble, 4 days raw maybe if your worried about meat content. Shouldnt be expensive with a terrier.

Burns is only 20% chicken if I recall and fish4dogs is almost 60% fish and 40%potato no grain.

I fed Burns Pork and Potato which is 29% pork. I then moved him onto Arden Grange Lamb and Rice which is 30% Lamb. So not a lot of difference. I changed because he is far from a fatty and Arden Grange contains fish oil so I hoped it would help. It did... perhaps... a bit!

No difference in price. RRP about £45. But if you hunt around on the internet you can get it for £33-35.

I have just ordered him some fish4dogs.... see if that will put any weight on.... Got that for £37/bag (although it is 12kgs compared to the Burns and AG 15kg bags)

I tried my JRT on both Burns and AG over the past year - she turned her nose up at both and only ate it after two-three feeds of abstaining. Have both mine on Skinners duck and rice now, both wolf it down...

My BT/lhasa apso cross was on Burns for a few years. Then we changed to Skinners Chicken & Rice Sensitive and he loves it. Plus his poos are fabulously firm now! (Sorry for the detail but they were always OK on Burns but even better on Skinners. A healthy poo is one you can trip over not slip in! ;))

Mine are all on varying varieties of AG. Never tried Burns. Dont get on with skinners, 2 of mine dropped weight quite rapidly on it, one piled it on and the other stayed the same...go figure?! although it gets some good reviews from others on here and is decidely cheaper. I get AG in breeders bags, I collected some performance this morning, just gone up to 31.50 a bag.

Burns has got seriously expensive and although it suited my dog with a touch of colitis I found all three were constantly hungry. They've gone on to Skinner's Duck & Rice and are brilliant on it but I have to watch my high energy Border Collie, he really dropped weight; I have to feed him quite a lot more than the recommended amounts. Even the one with colitis has trip over poo! :)

IMO they're both decent foods so depends what suits your dog and your budget!
Most dogs I see who are on Burns tend to be on the lean side and it doesn't seem to keep enough weight on some of them.

My 2 are both on AG lamb and rice - 2 x 15kg bags delivered next day for about £52 usually!

Used to use arden grange for my dogs and liked it but changed to burns due to the high oil content and my dog who is meant to have a harsh coat was growing a very soft coat. The burns did improve coat however I believe that it made her itch (very strange considering their big hypoallergenic thing). My dog seems able to eat just about anything without a problem so for her to have a reaction to it was very unusual. Now I'm using Royal Canin because I can get it cheaply at trade price :)

Rocky's on AG. It was a bit trial and error as he was, shall we say, loose  on everything else. Seems a lot better on AG and has a lovely shiney coat and lots of energy

Pixel's on Arden Grange lamb and rice :) She has always been fussy but will eat this and looks really healthy on it with a lovely soft shiny coat. Her poo is firm and dont smell too bad either...for dog poo! ;)

Never tried her on Burns, she was on Royal Canin when I got her but changed her onto Arden Grange due to the poor ingredients.

xx
