I have to de-burr 8 tails every day at the moment, does anyone have any bright ideas of any way to make it easier?

I had heard about putting babyoil in the tails, but before I do that I thought I'd ask first in case someone has a brilliant idea.

I can't NOT turn them out as it is the best grazing I have for them (lots of rough scrubland with woods, pond, meadows and shelter)

It isn't safe to tie tails up or bag them either.

Did debate chopping tails off as the flies seem to have disappeared but the foals beat me to it and all adult tails have been chomped to mere wisps above hock height anyway.

Thanks

I leave them until burr season is over, then baby oil/cut out.

The youngest foal had a tail that was completely rigid with the bloody things this morning, she was trying to pull them out with her teeth. Fortunately none in manes, ha, now watch, tomorrow the buggers will have burr plaits just for that!
