Bury Farm Pro/Am Tournament

Think this is Bury farms first one but Addington normally have one.

Seems to be enjoyed by many although you always get the pro/am debate of is that amateur really an amateur?

Not been personally to this type of show but went to bury farm all stars last year and its a lovely place! But was a lot cheaper when we went. Guess they want to make their money back after spending so much money on it but £90 stabling for a 3 day show! Can go to Arena UK for a week and pay less.

When is this show on? At the last Addington they gave an extra prize to the 'True' Amateur which made me laugh as you are either an amateur or a pro ;)

This is the first year for Bury Farm running a Pro/Am but they have been more fair on the restrictions than Addington. For the 1m class its not to be in the top 450 riders and the 1m10 is top 250 riders. This does discount some of the pot hunting pros but unfortunately not all of them! I can't decide whether to go or not i'm sure it'll be a good show though. Hopefully not as busy as the 'All Stars' show which was awful and went on so late.

I had a look at the schedule and have been thinking about going but it does seem to be very expensive.

Was looking on the pattchets website and they have a few day show end of November -December and its MUCH cheaper.
I really need to start thinking about doing something constructive (getting some double clears) then spending over 200 on just entry's and stabling to canter round classes that will be like a rat race. (Ponies not partially fast)
I think maybe if I thought I had a really good chance I would. But I'm just to skint ATM!! :(

Kal - thanks will have a look :) me being blind! ;)

I know how you feel, ive qualified amateur finals and just entered cost a fortune and my mare is only young so certainly wont be racing her round like an idiot!

Escada2004 - well done! I also qualified for finals but seen as Aintree is 4 hours from me think I'm going to give it a miss , that also seemed very expensive to! Especially if you've qualified for more then one class...like you said if you're not going to go like the clappers you won't win any money back Ether.

Bury farm is about 30mins away from me, do you think its worth just going there every day and coming back everyday? would save a lot as then entries would just be £50 and horsey shouldn't get to stressed?

I really want to go but my trainers two best horses are out of action so no partner - if any of you are a pro with a good 1.30m horse, let me know - I'm an amateur with a Grade A ;)

You don't have to have a partner it says, you can just go and then they will match you up?

I don't have a partner and I think Im just going to go up and see how it goes :D

Temptation - 4 hours is a long way but TBH its such a fab show hence why im going it really is worth a trip :) however yest its expensive but i thought as i ended up not doing Arena UK festival i would treat myself - its a nice experience all round and they stables are fab, hot wash boxes for the horses, tack lockers at the stables, cctv, solariums, great arena etc etc but this year will be the first year ive gone with just a novice and not the grade a i used to ride to win some pennies - we won a nice new saddle a couple of years ago :)
