Oh poo.. Second again methinks.. Just found the list on the BUSA site, trophy league has Plymouth and Southampton but both thirds so our seconds might be in with a shot! And as you say Champ league we have Soton and Surrey, anyone from Surrey uni? How good are you guys!?
I wish we had a second team and I would happily put myself on it but I struggle enough to find an A team! If anyone out there is at or going to Glasgow Caledonian please join the riding club
do you know who gloucester are against?? we were against oxford last year who were amazing! dont think we have a second team this year - sports officer wouldnt enter us or something!
Do what I did get someone to video the trials for you as if like us they are over two weeks its almost impossible to remember everyone. Found this way by far the best and when one girl came and complained, said I was more than happy to show her the video showing her dropping horse into simple fence causing it to stop and her to go straight over its head just incase she had forgotten the incident
Ohhh that's what I was going to ask - are there any photos online of the finals/regionals etc?
Yard almost had a fit over the idea of "3 teams turning up to ride their horses" until I showed them the BUSA rules, the dressage tests and show-jumping heights.
They thought it was going to be 4 numptys. I kindly pointed out that a numpty wouldn't be doing travers or jumping 1m20!
Oh and any other stories/tips/good things/bad things about league comps both your home one and away ones. I want to know everything LOL

We have about 30 people try out.. Which sounds great (and is really!
), until it comes down to me to try and select 2 teams, without offending anyone.. Tis impossible!

Haper adams gave us all poor horses. We all had big cob gypsy horse type things - mine couldnt even canter properly and then we were given horses that refused at 2 foot jumps when being shown to us - we all refused to jump and left! - the other three teams that was.
ow what was the horse at Plymouth? I have probably seen it as used to compete against them! one year I got one that tried to b*gger off with everyone which was very interesting, another year for the dressage got a 4yo belonging to Andy which although very nice was very green which proved interesting!
Just be warned, depending on which teams are in your league you may well have the odd numpty turn up to ride.
One year we had a team in our league that were truely awful, a couple couldn't tell if they were on right leg in canter (if they managed to get into canter!) and were eliminated at first sj fence!
A grey, can't remember his name.. About 16 hands, warmed up nicely then was a monkey in the arena, just very fresh. The owner of the yard seemed a bit confused by his behaviour so I don't know if it was normal or just a secret Plymouth ploy!!
not sure then as ones i had were bay (nutter) and chestnut (4yo) well those the ones I can remember! oh and also the ancient ancient one for dressage who was so sweet but so stiff.
We had a 'bogey' horse though only had her for year as she became a broodmare. If you could either ride her or you couldn't. If you could she went beautifully if you couldn't she refused to move (literally!!!!!). For our 2nd team comp our rider was over 60 penalties clear of the 2nd best rider!!! I had her for the 1st team and although the others got a tune of sorts out of her think was still well ahead
Actually just found the results on my comp and the 2nds team finished with 3 penalties the other teams had 67 and 99 penalties respectively
Just checked were going to wales for each comp apart from our own this year. last year it was - ox, warwick and harper for 2nds and bath (2 england flags!), ox brooks and UWE - rode for first team once and it was so much harder.
This year looks much better - gotta get the days off work now!!! - 3rd year placement!
In my first year at St Andrews over 50 people tried out for the teams, I cocked up my try out and had some donkey of a horse in a pelham! Think I might try and get involved this year, but a lot of them were all very stuck up which put me off a bit.
