i have been thinking bout a business where we would take horses who are very overweight or very underweight and work them for owners who don't have the time to help them back to full fitness themselves, whats everyone think?? would it be useful? do u kno anywhere who does this?? would someone like you benefit from it???
thanks

At the risk of peeing on your parade....

Would this service not be a normal full/schooling livery service that is already offered up and down the country...

I think this is a pretty niche market. People who:
a) have very under/over weight horses.
b) who have sufficient awareness to realise that their horses need treating.
c) care enough about the horses to do something about it (how many in this condition are neglect cases).
d) can afford full livery.
e) are so short of time (or lazy) that they would not fix the problem themselves.

A little too niche I think.

If I were in a situation where I needed this for a horse (regardless of reason) I would consider it only if there was full vet involvement - for the simple fixes of more exercise / less feed then the value only comes if the reigime will continue at home, other wise the horse will 'yo-yo'. If there was another cause, I would want full bloodwork, parasite analysis as well as someone qualified in nutrition designing the feed programe. If you ahve the nutritional qualifications and vet on board, then why not - but I doubt it would make enough money to sustain itself - it would ened to be along side a regular livery yard I would have thought.
