Busy Burghley...?

Is it just me or was Burghley far, far busier than it has been the last say 5 years or so?
Why was this? Do you think it was the Olympics or Badminton being cancelled that attracted the crowds?

I was there for XC day but didn't think it was any busier than previous years

We were there Saturday too - we go every year for XC day - we all commented on how busy it seemed...

I go to Burghley every year for three days, and this year from the Friday it was manic...never seen it so busy.

I have been going for nearly 20 years. It was the busiest I have ever seen it - they had record ticket sales BEFORE the event even started - so tickets on the door would be added. The car parks were all at least twice the usual size. Even the Members tent was packed - couldn't even get a seat at some points!

I think it was a combo of everything else being cancelled and the proximity of the Olympics - a European Olymoics always mean bigger crowds and 'different' horses entered from 'normal' as they stay on for the extra couple of weeks. I hope it gave the trade stands a boost as the sales the last couple of years have been down and they have missed so many show opportunites this year. My local tack shop are always there and they had the best year they have had for the last 2 or 3 - so all good.

I am local so it is all good for the local economy as well
