Erm yeah.

Going to the beach is a bit of a rare treat for us but it's arranged to go tomorrow.

Only, my mare decided this morning to have a bit of heat in her leg. It' only very mild, just a little warm to touch. I thought it might be from the sun as she'd been sun bathing before I tacked her up for a ride. I went on just a 10 minute walk hack to see if it was better after, but it wasn't. Hosed it off, turned her out and tonight it was still warm.

She isn't sore on it, nor lame or felt uncomortable when I rode her but didn't do anymore after those 10 minutes.

I figured well nevermind lets not go, not worth the risk incase there's something underlieing ect.
But then my friend (v. experienced) said she'd still go and if she felt comfy, just get on with it, and if she didn't feel quite right she'd just paddle in the sea as the salt is good for her legs, but not like gallop up and down ect. She also suggested going up early and if it was still warm, soaking it in hibiscrub, then seeing how it was a few hours later.

Opinions please? I don't want to not go like for no real reason as its so rare that we can go, nor do I want to make it worse!

If it is only a little bit of heat, and your mare isn't lame or sore on the area I would still go - but just take it really easy on the beach, and paddle her in the water. Try and stay walking around on the wet sand rather than dry sand as much as possible, as it is much harder work walking on dry sand (you go and try and run on dry sand and you'll see how hard it is!!).

But yes go - but just go steady (well I would anyway....)

Thanks - there won't be dry sand anyway, its shingled until the tide goes out (3ish hence we're going slightly later) so will all be wet sand I think.
