I wouldn't like to offer an opinion in case I upset anyone! But then I guess the counter-arguement to that is that someone shouldn't post if they don't want opinions.

Sorry, will probably get this deleted as it shouldn't be in NL, so to make it horse-related... thanks for your opinions on my boy, he was actually advertised originally for £13k! I got him for rather less than that....

Hey, Its very difficult to actually put a price on anything unless of coarse you can see it in the flesh. and a horse is worth what someone would pay for it.... Its fun guessing but we really have no idea as the price is so varied. Please except my apoligies if you felt affended as this is not what this forum is about. Only having some fun as there is nothing else to do (housework, washing, ironing etc etc)...
PS baby asleep and I should be doing my housework!!

I agree, with pricing, opionons, i tend to stay away from offering my opionon, but prices do vary so much and as jubbily said a horse is worth what you are prepared to pay for it. Somebody posted the other day regarding the price of x-racehorses and some people were suggesting prices of £4 to £10, my friend bought two x-racers for under £600, and one of them has already competed at Novice BE, it really does sometimes depend on not what you know but who you know as well.

I think problem is on here is that a lot of people overestimate a horse's worth, saying things like "you can't put a price on a safe horse" or "age doesn't matter."

Unfortunately, yes you can, and yes it does matter. There might be a few people willing to pay through the nose for an average safe allrounder but they are few and far between, and age wise - maybe it doesn't matter but it does make a heck of a difference when you're selling!

I dont tend to post in them that much as i am not very good at it

but i also think its extremly difficult to tell without seeing the horse in the flesh.

My friends horse has got herself quite a good BSJA record in 2 years but is still only a Grade C and if you wrote an ad she wouldn't stand out anymore than the others but she has been offered £35,000 for her by a pro coz she has the most amazing jump on her but you wouldn't be able to tell that from an ad

a girl at my yard has been trying to sell her pony for months for way more than its worth, even without mentioning that its hind leg collapses quite frequently its too much (she is hoping potential buyers wont have him vetted), but you cant tell her its not worth mcuh bexause she wont have it

But as I said, today's have gone OTT because people are just having fun with it. I agree & have posted before that a horse is worth what you are willing to pay. Same with anything, but if people are willing to pay over the odds then it will push prices up. No different in the housing market, the price being asked for is very rarely the price the property will sell for especially on new builds. Maybe some of us are taking the mick out of all the how much posts, but it is only a bit of fun, so does it matter? And at the end of the day it is interesting how peoples views differ, this can also be seen in horse deals I have never seen such a range in prices for horses and lorries/trailers come to that.

OMG I'm sorry guys - this was honestly not me being huffy about the replies to my 'how much' (which was really tounge in cheek) but just that I had viewed a few other how much posts and hadn't wanted to comment! really sorry if it came across as offended, honestly not my intention, and all the replies came after 2.30pm (when my internet access is withdrawn at work)
