Our collie wandered into the trees on a walk last week, and flushed a small herd of muntjac right in front of the husky! Am glad OH had her and not me.
We see deer pretty much every day - muntjac, roe and fallow depending on where we are walking - luckily the old lurcher Amy is oblivious now and she is the only one off the lead! It’s fun when the rest of then all want to give chase mind you.....
I am not sure how I would cope with my lot if they were as big as your greyhounds. I have bitten the dust/mud a few times in the past. Mine are now encouraged to follow deer tracks, one at a time on a 10 m line, the others on short leads, all attached to my walking belt. When they find they get praise and a generous reward before they are asked to 'leave' and we move away. They will now stop and point, and come back to me for their reward when called back which means I am no longer yanked off my feet by a yelling mob! ( but it took a good couple of years to get there). It was a race against time mind, would I still be able to walk them safely in my seventies or were they going to cripple me before old age did the job?
