Bute-free supplements

Does anyone have experience of using these long-term? What do you use, how much does it cost, and do you think it really makes a difference?
Just exploring my options for my knackered retired beastie!

You can use Buteless from Equine America,Bute Free from Feedmark or do what i do go in on www.healthspan.co.uk and get blister packs of BROMELAIN and DEVILS CLAW which are the main products in the above supplement,its a bit of a trial and error how many tablets to use,i started off at 2 tablets of each per feed,and now giver her 2 of each per day..my girl does really well on them and it does get cheaper in the long run !!!
 
have livery on bute free(hes been on it 10mnth) and have seen a definite improvement, hes older and suffering with a arthritic hip. its basically liquid devils claw which is a natural anti inflamatory. hes also on glucosamine. think it works out bout £15mnth for the devil relief. my nanna also had her old arthritic dog on devils claw after the vet recommended prescribing lots of pills, she got extra 2yrs out of him on the devils claw before he needed the vets pills
 
I use Substi-bute for my old boy, have found it works really well. Only use when he needs it though rather than on a long-term basis.
 
I've been using Vetvits Fleximins, Devils Claw, Green lipped mussell and flaxseed oil to keep my boy supple/sound over the winter...he is looking and feeling brilliant at the moment...pity my bank balance isn't!

I use Dodson and Horell Devils claw on two, and a livery uses Wendals Special Easy Mover which also has devils claw in it. Dont really think there is a lot of difference between them
 
Sil....for the record I have a bill in front of me for 30x Danillon. With the vat its £23.27.

Its pretty cheap stuff.
 
Oh that might be ok then! From my research it's about £10/month for a devil's claw supplement (constant use).
I think though, after having Maiden on bute since Monday and her having gone from very lame to cantering round in the wind like a loony, (

) she will be better off feeling a little uncomfortable and not wanting to run around!
 
I run an equine supplements company and I know these products very well. They are an excellent alternative to Bute and it is well known that Bute is bad for the horse if used long term.
