Hi guys my old lad is on a maintenance dose of 1 bute a day and has been for almost 9 years. I recently changed vets as a new practice opened up locally and they want to increase their visits to every 6months before they will give me the bute is this a legal requirement or are they just after money for an extra visit and examination? Tia

It is a requirement for them to regularly monitor animals who are on long term medication

No its every six months for me. I never have this scenario as the horse always self harms b4 six months comes around lol.

As for purchasing bute, it sounds like you already price match on prescription. I save a great deal of money : 68p a sachet against £1.15 with buying 200 within a six month timescale.
