Just looked on E-Vet website and there is a new anti inflammatory called Chanazone which is Phenylbutazone - £65.99 per 100 sachets POM. Actually not sure if its a new drug, just I've never heard of it before. Does anyone currently use it?
From the website: Chanazone is indicated for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in the horse where relief from pain and a reduction in the associated inflammation is required, e.g. in lameness associated with osteoarthritic conditions, bursitis, laminitis and soft tissue inflammation, particularly where continued mobility is considered desirable. It is also of value in limiting post surgical inflammation, myositis and other soft tissue inflammation.
It can be used as an anti-pyretic where this is considered advisable e.g. in viral respiratory infections.
My horse is on a sachet a day for arthritis and has been for a while now. Just wondered what the difference is other than the price which only works out £2 cheaper per 100 sachets? I normally get a prescription from my vet who price matches any veterinary prescription website.
Thanks.
