You can only get it from a vet as it's a prescription only drug in this country.

Your vet should of done this at the consultation and provided you with the medication and will let you know how to go about ordering some more for the future.

Unless I felt my vet was really ripping me off, or it was a long term prescription, I would get it from my vet. I feel I want to support them because I always expect a good service with up to date kit, and that is how they pay for that equipment.

its long term - ie for the rest of his life - she gave me a months worth last time she came and then came yesterday for a check up but drove off before i could ask for more. Just trying to save some pounds as he is a v expensive field ornament !!!!

I dont know anything about it but there is a bute substitute?

I havent tried it nor do I know anyone that has but may be an option?

I have just discovered that my lad may need to be on bute for a long time and have been looking at alternatives although I dont know if this stuff has any adverse effects when used longterm.

Just may be worth researching?

Kombi, I have always found it the same price or cheaper to get it off my vet. I was paying £39 for a box of one hundred Actually have about 60 sachets up the yard.. God bless you Ted.

I would never have a horse on bute long term again. My pony ended up with severe liver problems after being on 1 a day (to ease discomfort from bone spavin) for a long time. I think it ultimately led to his demise.

If there is an alternative available I would try that instead.

Call your vet - they will send you some in the post & bill you for it. Simples

depends what type of 'bute'. danilon works out more expensive coz you only get 60 in a box. Then there is Pro Dynam which used to be cheaper than the standard Equipalazone but it depends on your vet, both of these come in boxes of 100.
